In Dr. Koshes’ massage therapy continuing education course titled, “Modality Certification For The Massage Therapist” the modalities of cryotherapy, hydrocollation, paraffin wax, ultrasound and electrical muscle stimulation will be covered. He will review each modality including understanding the purpose of each modality, physiological effects, indications, contraindications, application and treatment parameters. Florida State Licensed Massage Therapists can achieve a certification status who pass an additional written and laboratory practical examination with a grade of 80% or better. This can be accomplished by setting up an appointment at Dr. Koshes' office in Sarasota, Florida to take the additional testing. The Florida State Massage Therapy Association has accredited his classes to provide Florida CEU Programs For LMT’s.

Florida state licensed Massage Therapists employed in medical/rehabilitation facilities where modalities are used will be expected to follow a certain code of conduct based on procedures determined by the Florida state board of Massage Therapy. The patient’s treatment should follow the guidelines set forth by the attending physician and any changes in the prescribed therapy program should be made by the attending physician. Any modality therapy used should be documented in the patient’s chart with regards to the type, location, time, intensity and the patient’s reaction. Any questions concerning the patient’s progress or the extent of their medical problem should be referred to the attending physician.
